The journal bears the name of a presumably legendary king of the Angles, whose kingdom was located in Schleswig-Holstein and who was praised for his valour and wisdom. The articles in ‘Offa’, which has been published since 1936, have always covered a broad chronological spectrum from prehistory to the Middle Ages. Over the years, numerous archaeologists from Scandinavia, Western, Central and Eastern Europe have presented their research findings here. Today, ‘Offa’ is an internationally oriented, recognised specialist journal. All articles undergo a peer review process before publication.
