englischThe conference papers collected in this volume are concerned with the analysis of the multifaceted interpretations and meanings of philosophy as science, and with the different interpretations of the concept of knowledge in German Idealism. The most significant representatives of the era, from Wolff via Kant, Fichte, Hegel and Schelling to Schopenhauer, are represented.

The volume is based on the proceedings of an international conference of the same name held in June 2019. The contributions reflect the papers given there. The conference was the first event held by the research group “ideal.ist – Criticism and Idealism: Systems, Context and Reception” which has been active at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz since 2018.
