Research is a strong area of focus in each of the academic disciplines in our Linguistics and Literary Studies programme. The most influential of our research publications is the journal, Germanistische Linguistik (German Linguistics, only available in German), a co-publication with the Research Center Deutscher Sprachatlas. First published in 1969, the journal has successively expanded over the years. It now includes prominent series such as Deutsche Dialektgeographie<\/em> (German Dialect Geography), Kleine und Regionale Sprachen (<\/em>Minor and Regional Languages) and Thema Deutsch<\/em> (Topics in German).<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n

Scholarly Works and Projects <\/h2>\n \n

Of particular significance is the discipline German Studies, which hosts the research project on Jeremias Gotthelf, a prominent Swiss novelist from the 19th<\/sup> century. The project, a compilation of his letters and writings as a historical-critical edition, counts as one of the most important in contemporary scholarly research. It is slated for completion in 2040 and shall comprise a grand total of 70 volumes.<\/p>\n\n \n <\/div>\n\n
