While the history of art has a modest place in the publishing programm at Georg Olms Verlag, it nevertheless carries works of significant value and calibre. At the core of the programme is the series, Studien zur Kunstgeschichte<\/em> (Studies on Art History, only available in German). First published over five decades ago, the series now comprises over 220 monographs, anthologies and catalogues raisonn\u00e9s, many of which have now found acclaim as essential reference books and fundamental reading.<\/p>\n

We also carry a wide range of reprints and collected works of prominent modern-era art historians. Of particular note is the 16-volume complete works of Carl Friedrich von Rumohrs, now supplemented by a companion textbook series.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n

The series focuses on the complex interrelation of music and sacred architecture from late antiquity to the early modern period from an interdisciplinary perspective. To what extent did composers and performers react to the architectural and acoustic characteristics of sacred spaces? In what ways did architects consider musical issues in designing and constructing new buildings? What role did liturgical regulations and innovations play in the relationship between rite, sound and space? And how were the multisensory performances experienced and perceived by the faithful? The series combines questions and expertise from musicology, architectural and art history, (archaeo-)acoustic, religious studies, anthropology and sensory studies.<\/p>\n

In den \u201eStudien zur Kunstgeschichte\u201c (StuKu), die zu den wichtigsten und angesehensten Periodica der deutschsprachigen kunsthistorischen Forschung z\u00e4hlt, sind seit 1974 \u00fcber 220 Monographien, Sammelb\u00e4nde und Werkverzeichnisse erschienen, pro Jahr derzeit zwischen 2 und 4. Diese reine Verlagsreihe ohne Herausgeber ist thematisch sowie gestalterisch offen und versammelt grundlegende Forschungsbeitr\u00e4ge zu allen Gattungen und Epochen, wobei ein Schwerpunkt auf der europ\u00e4ischen Malerei vom 16.\u201318. Jahrhundert liegt. Monographische Werke zu so bedeutenden K\u00fcnstlern wie Rembrandt, Giorgione, Holbein, Zuccaro, Hogarth<\/em> und Whistler<\/em> wurden in j\u00fcngerer Zeit vermehrt durch architekturhistorische Studien kongenial erg\u00e4nzt. Viele j\u00fcngere Autorinnen und Autoren der Reihe wurden f\u00fcr ihre Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen mit F\u00f6rderpreisen ausgezeichnet und z\u00e4hlen inzwischen zu den namhaftesten Vertretern ihres Fachs.<\/p>\n
